General information so far about the trip.  I'm aiming for Dec 22nd thru Dec 29th which of course covers Christmas. We don't have a lot of flexibility here because most beach house rentals are done on a weekly basis and run Sat to Sat.  You may find a few exceptions but most will charge more if we ask to arrive mid week, stay for less than 7 nights and the same would be true for if we try to rent the place for more than 7 nights. Their objective is to not have any fragmented weeks.

We can ask about these options but know that there may be an increase in price per family.

My head count so far is 16.

Vic Jr.  4
Dave  4?
Anthony (unknown)
Marisol  3
Me  3
Mom & Dad

We also need to figure out how we'll handle the money.  I see two options right now.

Option #1--Each of you can write a check for your share and send it to the property owner yourselves

or

Option #2--You send your checks made payable to the property owner to me and I can send them in one envelope

There's a chance there's an option for each of us to pay our share online but I don't know that for certain.

  1. Hey Geoff,

So I found a couple of places. See links below. We should definitely find a place soon because there weren't many that would accommodate that many of us comfortably considering we'll be there for an entire week. I figured we needed 4 queen Beds and 8 twin beds. What budget did you get an okay from everyone?

4 Queen Beds: (Mom & Dad; David & Maria; Geoff & Robyn; Vic & MT;)

8 Twin Beds: (Marisol, Matthew, Micheal, Gabby, Tim, Katie, Nic, Nathan)

    2. This one is newly renovate and has a pool, game room and 4th story sundeck. It is right on the beach. It would be $1158/family.

This one has an elevator for Marisol to get from top to bottom but one or two of the kids may need to sleep on a sleeper sofa. It also has a pool. It doesn't seem to be right on the beach like the other one, but the elevator might make it the winner. It would be $980/family.

  2. Payment-wise we'll see what the owner or Property Manager prefer. I think either suggestion you made sounds fine. We should definitely plan a menu of our meals ahead of time and take turns on who will be cooking and who will be cleaning. Not sure what we all had in mind for Christmas but we usually order the turkey and fixings from a nearby restaurant and pick it up already made. All we end up doing is heating it up and serving. I'll see what nearby restaurants can cater and can accommodate for dinner on some of our nights.

    1. Cool. Is this for Mom's & Dad's 50th celebration? or Dinner each night?

    2. What day is their actual Anniversary? Is that the day we're targeting for the celebration? How many days will we be dining out? If we're going to be there for 7 nights maybe we can go out to eat at least 3 of those 7 nights and cook the other 4? Or were you planning on dining out every night? I'm good either way.

  4. Maybe we can do this one day??? It's a 3 hour cruise that can accommodate large groups for special events. I'll look into and let you know what I find.

  5. Hey Geoff,

Can you invite Vic, MT, and Marisol to this blog. If I knew how to do that I would. Are we all okay with the dates? Dec 22 - Dec 29th? I was not sure if everyone could take off all those days or if anyone would prefer less days. As far as we're concerned, we're fine with those dates.
